72 Years. Feeling Out Of Breath With Incline While Walking. Have Pacemaker After Angiogram. Advice

i had an angiogram 30 months ago , i told all clear but need a pacemaker ,this was done and regular checks 6 monthly say it is working fine . i felt 10 years younger when this was done .
i am 72 years old and decided to do more exercise recently .brisk walk and short jog
obviously i get out of breath when doing an incline and the inside of my aches so i slow down and it goes and i carry on walking . maybe things will get easier maybe not .

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Having to put a pacemaker after an angiogram surely means that your heart needs support to keep up with its rhythm. Any exercise or intense physical activity must be done after discussing with your doctor or physiotherapist. Doing sudden exertion can put a load on your heart and this is causing breathing problems. The symptoms are due to stress on your heart which need to be controlled to prevent further problems.

I suggest that you do not do brisk activity and take slow steps while going on an incline. The moment you feel out of breath please take some rest.

Hope this helps
