6 Year Old Woke Up With A Hard Bump On The Head. Need To Get Checked?

My 6 y.o. daughter woke up this morning and showed me a quarter in size bump on her head. She did not hit her head. It's near nape of neck on left side. It's very hard and looks purplish in color. It does not look red and she is not itchy so I don't feel like it is a bug bite. Not any other sx-she is fine. She I be taking her in to her pediatrician?

Hi,

The bump you are describing could be a lymph node which has enlarged. This happens when there is infection in the head region like scalp, ears, throat etc

If the lump is painful to touch then she will require to take antibiotics to curb the infection. So i would suggest that you get her examined by her doctor.

Regards
Take Care.
