2 Year Old With Diaper Rashes. Reddish Dots On The Buttocks Spreading. Any Help?

my son is 2 1/2 years old and we have gone through many cases of diaper rash in his days. But, we have recently begun potty training and I have noticed a couple red dots on his bottom (not the typical diaper rash that I have seen in the past) and throughout today the couple dots have now spread to cover his entire bottom and now traveling up the back of the thighs. Any suggestions? I was reading elsewhere on-line and someone suggested using anti-fungal cream or Monistat. Your thoughts?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

There are the following possibilities in your child.

1.Diaper rash

2.Contact dermatitis

3.Candidal rash

4.Bacterial infections like pyoderma

Physical examination is important to diagnose the rash and specific treatment depends on the accurate diagnosis of the skin condition.

Don't use any local creams without prescription as they may sometime aggravate the problem.

Therefore I advise your to consult your pediatrician for examination and further treatment.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
