Question: my 59yo dad has had low grade fever for the past 17 days , 8days ago he also started having lower abdominal pain as well as bloating. He has got some ultrasounds done (showed nothing abnormal) and a blood test that showed quite high CPR( 60MG/L ). We've seen two doctors the first one did the ultasounds and everything and prescribed flagyl cefixime and imodium , his state didnt really change. the second one who did the blood test prescribed bedelix spasfon but his state didnt really change as well ... what could it be ???

Brief Answer:
Further testing required.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query sir.
Have seen your details and I appreciate your concerns.

There are many possibilities-
1)If patient is not responding to treatment of Gastroenteritis then a COVID 19 test should be done. At present COVID case are also presenting with Fever and stomach problems( not responding to regular treatment).
Second possibility is inflammatory bowel disease.
2)Ruling out possibility of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis is required. So if COVID pandemic is in control at your place then a colonoscopy could be done.
Was a CBC test done sir?
please revert back.

hello thanks for your answer,
we're gonna get him tested tomorrow for covid in order to forestall that eventuality but me and my mom have been around him all the time and we show no symptom ... my mom being a heavy smoker i thought it would get to her if it was covid but we never know
the ultrasounds didnt show anything abnormal , could it still be a tumor or polypes ?
a cbc test was done , do i have a way to send u the results ? the amount of white blood cells showed was normal
currently he's taking spasfon , cefixime and an anti bloating medicine
do you think his case is serious doctor ? today he is coughing a little and had a XXXXXXX of 37.9c°
thank you
