Detailed Answer:
Hello

After going through the medical details provided by you I can understand your concern for your father’s health and I would like to tell you that his symptoms seems to be related to multiple anti depressant medications most likely.

It’s highly advisable to take him to a psychiatrist for proper evaluation sessions personally as the medications needs to be reduced if his anxiety/depression are not at a significant level. As these medications have strong sedative effect so it could cause him regular drowsiness which could ultimately lead to any sort of injury.

Also as he is also taking anti hypertensives so I would like to suggest you to keep a regular record of his blood pressure reading because if it’s staying below 100 systolic then these medications also needs dose adjustments.

I hope this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards

he was on prozac 60-80mg at night for years, the doctor removed this med and gave him Paxil 20 mg at night, is this safe?

Brief Answer:
Hello again

Detailed Answer:
Both the medications belongs to SSRI group of anti depressants but Paxil contains paroxetine which is particularly beneficial in patients having post traumatic stress.

As in your case his wife passed away just 2 months back which also is a kind of mental trauma to someone. So yes Paxil will be a good option for him.
