Question: good day, few weeks ago i sprained my foot it was numb for about a week and later on it started to pain severely throughout my leg. doctor prescribed for a painkiller injection and paracetamol along with vitamin b complex tablets. i could feel the difference but sometimes all of a sudden i experience muscle cramps and it does go away very soon making me difficult to walk or even bend my leg. i would like to know any home medication or exercise that may help to relax the muscles and lessen the pain.

Brief Answer:
You need to allow the foot rest!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thanks so much for this query.

Your pain is certainly from sore/strained muscles and this needs time to heal. No amount of exercises at this time would allow for this. The best approach is to allow the injured leg to rest, control pain with pain killers and then follow up with exercises/stretching for reconditioning. Exercises at this time are discouraged because they only delay healing as you continue to exert pull forces on the already strained/injured muscles and mechanical apparel.

In all, willfully rest the leg and control pain as appropriate. 2-3weeks down the road with advanced recovery, you can then start exercising to condition the leg. Any level of activity at this time delays healing, causes pain and doesn't help with the recovery.

I hope this guides and helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me as need be.

Thank you doctor for your continuous help. I've uploaded the pictures of my foot as reports in my account, because i don't know how to send it to your account personally.Another update is that i got my calf muscle massaged by a nurse and it made a significant change in the leg and foot. some pain has been elevated and i could feel relaxation of few muscles in my leg too. but i would like to confirm from you is this a muscular pain or anything related to the nerves and vertebrae.

Brief Answer:
I have reviewed your images!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed all images (3 in all). The color of your skin seems fine. In all, the healing process would be progressive and not instant.

I will encourage you to stay active (moderate levels), massage would hurt either and stay positive. The degree of swelling is not out of proportion to what you explained. This pain is entirely musculoskeletal.

I hope this helps and guides.
I wish you well.
