1. What's your age?
2. For how long duration would you like to use contraceptive method?
3. Do you have any associated medical issues like high blood pressure or diabetes or liver disorder, jaundice or blood clotting related issues?
Vaginal contraceptive ring has been used by many women without much side effects.
Disadvantages of the ring include,
1. Vaginal irritation ,in some cases.
2. Displacement of the device.
3. Maintaining vaginal hygiene.
4. Shorter duration of action, due to which needs to be replaced.
May not be suitable for long term use .
As such progesterone hormone containing contraceptive devices have shown minimal weight gain.
Intrauterine devices containing Levo norgestrel deliver minimal daily hormonal dose, and have shown minimal weight gain in the women using the same.
Along with use of any such contraceptive method, I usually suggest to my patients to adopt a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen.
