Brief Answer:
You may need to increase sotalol dosage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Some foods can cause palpitations such caffeine, alcohol, canned food ,foods rich in sodium, fats, carbohydrates etc.
You may need to be hydrated because dehydration also can cause palpitations.
If you ha been suffering from patoxizmal af taking sotalol the palpitations may be a symptom of destabilisation.
You may need to do an EKG to check them. Increasing sotalol dosage may be needed.

Hope I have answered the question.

Thank you. Let me run this by you. I had ekg 6 months ago and was very good. I take 80 mgs sotalol 2x day. I play hard singles tennis 3-5 times a week in Florida heat and my heart is fine. I Take omeprazole daily. The palps also happen when I forget to take those especially with spicy food. What are you thoughts about a link between palps and vagus nerve interaction. Because my palps are not irregularly irregular. They are a skip or an extra beat. I think you doctors call that ectopic. So it’s not afib, it’s a pac, a pvc or something like that. I’m seeking a medical opinion from you because virtually every dr. defaults to either take more meds or moderate any number of behaviors. Thank you in advance for your advice on this.

Brief Answer:
Stress and anxiety may be causing them.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
The vagus nerve palpitations can be stimulated by vagus nerve because of anxiety or stress.
Anxiety and stress rather than food may be the cause of your palpitations taking count that all your heart tests are normal.
Managing anxiety and stress, avoiding caffeine, alcohol, smoking, doing breathing exercises can help.
If nothing works increasing sotalol dosage can be recommended.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
