Why Is DHEA Prescribed After Menopause?

Question: i am a 62 year old female who has is post menopausal why would my physican advise me to take dhea?

Contacted physician concerning issues with not sleeping well, some hot flashes, and weight gain especially in the abdomen which makes the pain in my back worse with standing sitting for long periods of time or walking. and so exercise is difficult to do. i am single and have been for an extended time and so sex drive is not an issue

Brief Answer: conventional hormones are avoided in favour of DHEA Detailed Answer: So there is your reason, why the DHEA has been prescribed, it is for the post menopausal symptoms. Given your weight and hypertension, conventional hormones would have been avoided in favour of DHEA.
