Question: Two episodes of dizziness, (sudden onset), weakness, nausea, barely able to walk. I am status post viral sinusitis. Have been to ER twice with no diagnosis. Am now on Meclizine and Zofran, still with low-grade nausea. Age 79. Head CT normal.

Status post pacemaker 2 years ago. EKG normal in ER. BP a little high in ER at 180s/80s.

Hello and welcome,

If the dizziness is vertigo (room spinning) rather than light headedness (feel faint), and if it came on quite suddenly and happens with changes in position of your head, it's possible it's benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). This happens when, small particles in the inner ear get in the wrong place and set off the motion sensors inappropriately.

Here is a youtube video about BPPV and a maneuver to get the particles back where they belong. It can take several tries. If that doesn't work, talk with your doctor about him/her doing an Epley maneuver or referring you to someone who does.
