Brief Answer:
Could be due to nerve compression or peripheral neuropathy.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Thanks for posting your query.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns.

Your symptoms could be due to compression of the ulnar nerve and require clinical examination for confirmation. It could also involve peripheral neuropathy. I would need to ask you if you are a diabetic. Deficiency of vitamin B12 could also give rise to such a presentation. Taking Methylcobalamine (Vitamin B12) supplement should help in improving the situation.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards.

Thank you for your response . I did some research on your diagnosis and I think that is what I have . I have recently ( the past 6 to 9 months ) started drinking pink moscato wine and more than a couple glasses a day . I used to rarely drink alcohol and spent over twenty years not drinking any . I've also suffered a knee injury which is preventing me from doing my usual hour walks that I would do daily . All of that has contributed to my gaining about 30 pounds in that short of time . I'm hoping that if I stop the alcohol all together and eat healthier and find some kind of exercise that I can do until I find out what's wrong with my knee , that hopefully my numbness will improve. Do you think that is possible ?

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Welcome back.

Alcohol may precipitate deficiency of B vitamins leading to such symptoms. In such a case, apart from refraining from alcohol you also need to replenish the deficiency as mentioned in the last answer.

I hope this answers your query.

Take care.
