What Is The Half Life Of Afrin?

Question: I have taken too much Afrin and now my blood pressure is way high 172/91. I did not follow the directions. How long before this Afrin be out of my system?

Half life of afrin(oxymetazoline) is 5-6 hours. Considering its pharmacokoinetic it will take 24 hours to clear it from the system assuming you have taken dose at a time.

Meanwhile to control hypertension and potential risk of seizure , you can yake low dose benzodiazepine after consulting your treating doctor if needed.

Thanks for follow up question. For my patients I recommend Clonazepam (Klonopin) 0.25 three times a day for a day. Next day half tablet three times a day and then two times a day next day and stopped afterward. This is a prescribed medication. You need to take it after consulting your treating doctor.
