Brief Answer:
Yes, you can go for higher dose

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing

Lamitol is a brand name of the drug Lamotrigine which lifts mood from the depressed side and bring back to euthymic [normal] level.

But it is usually given in patients with bipolar depression. The usual dose is 200 to 500 mg in a day. But there are so many other factors that need to be considered.

Whether you are taking any other drug apart from this?
How long you have been on this drug?
Do you have any skin reaction after starting the drug?
Whether your mood changes with stress? [alternating happiness and sadness]

If you are not taking any other drug apart from this, then you can increase the dose after discussion with your treating psychiatrist.. you can go up to 200 mg..

I hope this will be helpful to you..if you have further queries feel free to ask..

Best of luck

Brief Answer:
you can take high dosage of lamitol

Detailed Answer:
hi, thanks for follow up query

your doctor is also giving you trazodone 200mg twice daily [toficalm] but i cant understand what sypro contains?

there are no significant interaction between lamitol and toficalm, so you can ask your doctor for increasing the dosage. you must be aware of the side effects by toficalm, if not then ask your psychiatrist about it..

you can increase the dosage after discussion with your treating psychiatrist..lamotrigine can be given upto a dose of 200-500 mg in a day..

however, the improvement you are describing may be because of the toficalm not because of lamitol..that is why I am asking for discussion with your psychiatrist..

i feel this will be helpful to you..best of luck..

Brief Answer:
It is not because of these drugs

Detailed Answer:
hi, thanks for writing again.

neither the lamitol nor toficalm is commonly causing the decrease appetite.

In some person it may cause

You can talk about this to your treating doctor

There is syrup formulation available for the appetizer of cyproheptidine, which is a antihistaminic drug but increases the appetite.

Another possibility is there, it may be the part of unresolved depression.

I think this will be helpful to you, best of luck.
