What Is The Dosage Of Adderall For ADHD?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Jan 2015
Question: If my doctor increases my dose of adderall from 20mg to 30mg will the 20mg dose no longer be effective even if I just tried the 30mg dose one time? In other words will I developed a tolerance after just one time trying a higher dosage making the lower 20mg dose no longer effective if go back to that dose? Would tolerance build that fast? I ask because my doctor said if 30mg is no good he will move me back down.
Thank you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
No it does not cause tolerance

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand concerns expressed by you.

What you are interpreting from your doctors statement does not hold any truth and it indicates that if there is no more improvement with 30 mg in compare to 20 mg he will shift back to you to 20 mg.
The reason for shifting back are obvious which includes cost and side effects.

Adderall is definitely addictive to some extent but not the extent you are fearing. You do not need to get fearfull about tolerance and effectiveness.

It has been observed that only few patients get better relief with 30 mg in compare to 20 mg in regard to ADHD symptoms. So in case you are not getting any benefit from higher dose than there is no rationale to use higher dose.

Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
