What Does This Radiology Report Indicate?

Question: Hi,
I'm looking some info on this radiology report. I'll report the findings below.

There is an unchanged subcutaneous hypoechoic nodule with a linear
fatty hilum, consistent with a benign lymph node. This measures 0.3 x
0.6 x 1.1 cm, previously 0.3 x 0.7 x 1.0 cm, unchanged. Remaining
cervical lymph nodes are normal in size.

I had this ultrasound because of a lymph node that felt enlarged. And this was the followup from the original scan. I have two questions: are normal nodes hypoechoic? And should I be at all worried about the 1.0 cm changing to 1.1? I assume it's not always an exact measurement. Is this considered enlarged? It's located on the back of my neck, about halfway between spine and ear in what I believe is an occipital lymph node.

Brief Answer:
Your findings may suggests benign lymph node in neck region.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to HealthcareMagic,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern,

Your findings may suggests benign lymph node in neck region.
Mentioned reports are indicating typical findings of a benign lesion.
There is subtle variation from previous size and it is insignificant.

Enlarged lymph nodes in neck region may be due to many causes like infection in any of the ENT region and/ head region.

It is generally reversed with treatment of underlying cause.

In short, it is not a very significant finding.

Thank you. A few more questions.

1. What are these numbers measuring? Clearly one is width and one is height, what is the other?

2. Can lymph nodes minimally change sizes for no reason?

3. Are these measurements considered enlarged? And do lymph nodes differ in size from one another? For instance, if you have 3 occipitical nodes are they the exact same size?

4. Is hypoechociity normal for benign nodes?

Thank you.

Measurement are taken in all three dimensions.
Minimal variation may be due to technical causes and it is not concerning.
