What Does This Mammogram Report Indicate?

Question: My wife's mammogram showed architectural distortion in her left breast. This was seen on a new 3d mammogran machine.

I understand your concerns.

Architectural distortion of the breast needs to be investigated further to know what is causing this distortion.

Best way forward is to get biopsy with a needle(FNAC and Histopathological examination) to test and rule out any possibility of malignancy. This is simple and effective test.

Follow up: Dr. Soumya (18 minutes later)

They have asked her to return for another 3 d mammogran citing the need for a better image. She has dense breasts. They have said nothing about the need for a biopsy. Is it possible they simply did not get a good image. In the past she has had an uktrasoubd at the sane time but they did not have a prescrption at the time. The nurse said there was no mass found or no need to panic.

You are right. Poor image is another possibility. She has been called back for same reason I guess.

If image is same distorted architecture again you may consider biopsy.
