What Does This Hemoglobin Level Of 6.3 Indicate?
Question: Is Hb level 6.3 dangerous? My current report shows me Hb level 6.3... what can be the reason and what treatment should I go for? Do I need to take any specific food and what kind of medication is recommended? I feel dizzy/tired and very week at times, couple of time have felt breathlessness as well. Pls advise.
Brief Answer:
upper GI endoscopy
Detailed Answer:
Hi
The cause of your low haemoglobin could be Iron deficiency anemia.
Since your haemoglobin level is 6.3 and you are feeling breathless and weak i would advise 2 units of blood transfusion immediately.
You need to do an upper GI endoscopy test to check for bleeding sources from your mouth to the stomach area.
I will also advise you to take iron tablets with your doctors advise.
I would recommend foods such as dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach, iron fortified cereals, breads, dried fruits such as raisins and apricots.

Thank You doctor for your reply. I am lil scared to go for transfusions... Is there any other alternatives? Like any injections/medicines can help?
Brief Answer:
iron injection
Detailed Answer:
Hi
As you are scared to go for transfusions you can increase your haemoglobin level by taking iron injections.
It can be given mixing with normal saline drip intravenously over a period of half an hour.
Consult your doctor regarding iron injection.
