Question: Docter I have done following hiv test. But values are different always.please advise.all test are negative
Hiv ag/ab _ .10
Hiv ag/ab_.20
Hiv ag/ab_.23

Hello, This is Dr Matin, and will be answering your question.

These values--10, 20, 23 written in front of ag/ab(antigen/antibody) are called OD values for a test done at a particular lab. From lab to lab it may vary, the important point is this that in the report card, it would have been surely mentioned about the cut off OD values above which the result would be termed as positive' and below that cutoff value, it would be termed 'negative'.

So if these values are below the given cut off value then the report is negative while if it is more than the given cut off value, then the report would be termed as 'positive'.

As you have said these all are negative, which means the 10, 20, 23 values are less than the given cut off value at each report.
