Question: My Lipid profile report done in September'14 says:
Total Cholesterol - 200
HDL - 28

I am taking Telma 20 (had high BP for a few days in January'14) and Lipicard 160 (from the last 3 months).

Questions:
Do I need to have cholesterol medications?
Am I at the right medications? Do I have to continue with these?

Brief Answer:
Continue medications

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX
I have gone through your query.
Your triglycerides level is still elevated but according to your previous value it is decreased with medication that is the good sign.
Your HDL (good cholesterol) is decreased which should be more than 40 in males.
According to your height and weight you are not overweight.
Yes, blood pressure should continue for life time. Was your blood pressure checked when you have not had medications?
You have to continue other medication since still your triglycerides level is elevated.
I suggest you continue medications, maintain diet and repeat the test after 3 months.
Do brisk walk 30 minutes daily.
Diet and physical exercises increase good cholesterol.

If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.

Thanks Doctor.

These test results are from September'14, which means I have to take tests now in December? Also, BP has never been tested without medication, shall it be checked? if yes, till how many days without medicines?

I walk Mon-Friday 3 kms daily in the evening. Hope that's okay?

Brief Answer:
Repeat tests

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for your information.

Yes, you can repeat the test in December.

Your blood pressure is 120/78 that means your blood pressure is maintaining well with medications (medication is decreasing your BP to 120/78). I guess if you stop the medication it will increase. You have to continue it.
You can check blood pressure before having blood pressure medication every morning for one week.

It is good that you walk for 3 km daily. Yes, it is okay.

If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.
