Question: I recently had an mri which revealed a 10% tear in the Achillies Tendon. Will this resolve itself on its own and will I do any further damage to it. I cannot rest it as I work fill time. I do however have orthoticts and shims in my shoes will this help?.

Brief Answer:
Rest is needed for healing.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A tear in achilles tendon needs rest to heal. I you cannot do rest then do get it surgically repaired. It is a small tear and can heal with rest.
But since you are not giving it proper rest then it may lead to a chronic pain. Using orthotics and shims in the shoes can help to some extent but rest is necessary.
I hope this answers your query.
