default
Posted on Mon, 6 Nov 2017
Question: Having since 1986 on and off spells of vertigo.had over the years lots of tests done.it never really goes away.so with my doctors blessing i have been taken 25 mg meclizine daily.sometimes when it gets worse i take up to 3 a day, then reduce them when i feel better
Last week ot started again, when bending down turning in my sleep etc.i get this ugly spinning sensation, what i dislike so much.tryed to avoid laying on my right side, looking up when bending down staying of ladders at work anything to not get dizzy. Today i tryed to lay on my stomach and layed my right ear on a pillow,o regret it.my head feels like i am under water feeling like i am turning and my stomach feels like i got to vomit. Took one 25mg meclizine at 11.30am and one nowat 2.00pm.Yes didnot sleep well.only for about 3.5 HR.

Brief Answer:
Needs investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hi D.Wxxxx,
Thanks for the query. I have read it & understood your concern.
You are taking medicines since long... have undergone some tests too... but found no specific diagnosis....you have not given the results also...
Vertigo of your type-changing with position of neck - could be due to cervical spondylosis or internal ear problems(sinus symptoms/ear infections/injury to ear). & sometimes due to uncorrected refractory errors (vision problems)
The specific tests to find the cause ..specially MRI .... can throw some light on the basic cause.
In this scenario you should consult your family physician first....who after primary evaluation after detailed physical examination would refer you to specialist (an ENT,Spinal surgeon or an opthalmologist) for further specific treatment .. which would give you better out come.
I hope the answer has satisfied you. Any follow up query is welcome.)
Thanks.
