Posted on Fri, 27 Oct 2017
Question: I am a 36 year old male and my weight in january 2017 was 68 kg .In Janauary 2017, I tested for total testosterone and free testosterone. Results were:
total testosterone : 2.47 ng/ml
free test testosterone: 4.85
I visited an XXXXXXX and he adviced coq LC tablets and life style changes.since then i m taking COQ LC daily and doing exercise 3 times a week regularly.I have lost 5 kgs and my current weight is 63 kg.I tested again in 28 september 2017 : NOW my free testosterone level is 7.55 pg/ml and total testosterone level is 362.4 ng/dl.Also LH is 4.4mIU/mL.while total T is normal and free T has improved but it is still not in normal range.I would like to know:
1.is my free T and total T normal?
2. if not what further I should do now?
and any other advice /comments you would like to give me.Thanks

Brief Answer:
About low testosterone;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
As you may know, testosterone level decreases 1% after age of 30-ies and at your age total testosterone should be about 650 ng/dl and free testosterone about 10 pg/ml but to consider it low it should be under 300 ng/dl.
It is very important to know if you have symptoms of testosterone insufficiency ( low sex drive, difficulty in erection, fatigue , low muscle mass, mood changes ect). If you have these symptoms than the levels reported may be considered low.
So the decision rather to start testosterone replacement therapy will depend on the symptoms. If they are present, Testosterone may be started and testosterone level maintained in the levels reported above.
Otherwise, continue with Coenzyme Q10.
I would also suggest to check thyroid function, it may be a cause of low testosterone.
Hope i have been helpful.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta

Brief Answer:
There is no need to start treatment:

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back!
Than, there is no need to start testosterone replacement therapy.
Of course, continue with physical activity and try not to regain the kg you have lost.
Continue with Coenzyme Q10 too for other 6 months.
