Question: I just got tested for a good laboratory My CBC,All Biochemistry parameters,Thyroid are normal,CRP normal but ASO 288 ,I have a mild sore throat and some discomfort in lower jaws after travelling in a AC car. I have mild flu like symptoms may be once in a week it goes off in after 2 / 4 hours and disappears in a day or two .should i take a course of antibiotics

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I have checked the attached reports. The raised ASO titre could be due to your sore throat which could be associated with your exposure to the low temperature of AC car. Irrespective of whether the cold is due to bacterial or viral cause, you need not take antibiotics. Antibiotics are ineffective in viral infections and even in case of bacterial infections the recovery occurs in same period irrespective of taking antibiotics.

Rather, I would insist you to gurgle with lukewarm water and to take steam inhalation.
