What Does Extra Renal Pelvis With Minor Fullness Of Collecting System Indicate?

Question: Hi, for the past few years I have had intermittent pain in my right kidney. Within the past month the pain has become daily, ranging from a mild dull aching to severe pain. Urine tests came back with urinary infection which I was prescribed antibiotics but have now finished the dosage and pain still exists. I have felt fatigued and yesterday had some nausea. An ultrasound test has come back saying I have an extrarenal pelvis 11mm in size with minor fullness of the collecting system, what does this mean and what steps should I take next in regards to the pain in my right kidney? As a child I had a Ledbetter-Politans reimplantation of my left obstructed megaureter, and my left kidney now functions at around 10%. I have no symptoms on my left side, just my right, would my previous condition with my left kidney have any impact on my right kidney resulting in my right kidney pain?

Brief Answer:
Need to Rule out stone in the kidney pipe

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to the forum.

The extra renal pelvis with minor fullness can be normal.
However, with the background of recent infection and practically one kidney, it is better to evaluate further and look for a STONE in the ureter by doing a CT scan.

The left kidney problem at young age seems to be UNRELATED to the current problem on the right side.

If there is no stone, you may feel relieved, as the pain can be attributed to musculo-skeletal problem.

Hope this helsp,
Sincerely,
