What Does A Visible Line Under The Penis Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 28 Nov 2014
Question: The underside of the penis has what I call for lack of a better term a "seam" that extends the entire length of the penis and scrotum. What is it actually called and what is it;s purpose? I ask because I managed to damage mine and it no longer a straight seam and I was wondering if it had anything to do with my ejaculation amount and distance of my orgasm.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
No need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.

I think you are talking about perineal raphe. It is a visible line or ridge of tissue on the human body that extends from the anus through theperineum

In males, this raphe continues through the midline of the scrotum
(scrotal raphe) and upwards through the posterior midline aspect of the penis
(penile raphe). It is the result of a fetal
developmental phenomenon whereby the scrotum and penis close toward the midline and fuse.

If it is damaged superficially, no need to worry. It is just skin fold and it has nothing to do with testis or reproductive system. So it is not going to affect your ejaculation amount or orgasm.

For better evaluation and confirmation please send me clear photographs of what you are talking about.

Hope I have answered your query. I will be happy to help further if needed.

Regards,
Dr. Chintan Solanki.
