What Does A Red Spot On Penis Shaft Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 5 Sep 2014
Question: I have a one red spot on the side of my shaft of my penis that appears to be a really small bump. It’s right next to a hair follicle. It is hardly raised, if at all really. Looks like a white head in the middle of it. Is this an early stage of hpv/wart? Or maybe a fungal infection or Molluscum Contagiosum? Pictures are attached.

Brief Answer:
Looks like an inflamed hair follicle(folliculitis)

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query and attached images with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help.

After going through the attached images I believe and am almost sure this is due to an inflamed and/or infected hair follicle. At times, such an appearance is seen due to the accumulation of sweat and dirt in regions which are more damp than other regions (like the groin). The groin is also especially vulnerable to such a presentation due to the friction from inner wear and also at times due to shaving of hair in the region.

The hair follicle can get irritated due to any of the above causes and can result in either only inflammation or inflammation along with infection and appear similar to the presentation you are experiencing. There is nothing to worry about this, please follow the following instructions sir:

-Apply warm compresses to the region
-Take several sitz baths in a day using epsom salt in the bath water
-Keep the area dry and clean
-Avoid wearing inner wear for a while or wear only cotton
-Avoid sexual contact and masturbation until the spot heals

Other than the above nothing else is required sir. This appearance does not resemble a wart (HPV or herpes) or a fungal infection. So please do not worry, and go about my above listed instructions.

I hope you find my response helpful, please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
My pleasure entirely sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

It was my pleasure to be of assistance.

It usually takes about 7-10 days sir, as all the above mentioned treatment approaches are not medicine, so recovery will be slow but sure. Please be patient and safe.

If even in the future you require my assistance (hoping you do not and continue to live a healthy and beautiful life), you know where to find me.

Best of luck and stay safe.
