Question: I am snow birding in the carribean and am a 54 year o.d lady.i have some sort of parasite infection, the symptoms being anal itchingg at night with facial itching too.the only sign of a parasite are white specks in my stool.i took albendazole then learned that because of the dilantin, an alternative was needed. The GP here was not or could not be open to discuss this.In Her opinion my stool sample was negative thus no infection.I was given Pin X or Pyrantel Pamoate in one dose followed by. A dose 2weeks later. This was about 5 weeks ago.I felt a slight itch yesterday and took another dose of Pin X.This morning my stools were full of tiny white specks, about half the size of a grain of rice. I am distrought and do not know where to turn. The medical system here leaves alot to be desired.help.

Brief Answer: Possibly the infection is eradicated Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome to Healthcare- Magic Greetings of the day I do understand your concern and situation You could be facing. Albendazole and pyrantel are both effective anti helminthic drugs and lead to eradication of infection in more than 95 percent of individual. The whitish flakes coming out in stools is likely to be due to mucous secretion. This mucous causes irritation of peri anal region and causes itching. In the absence of other symptom like loose motion there is no cause for concern. Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you. Take care Best Regards Dr T Shobha Deepak MBBS, MD
