What Do Hard Bumps On Body Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 27 Sep 2014
Question: I have been developing hard or firm bumps around my body one or two a day for last few days. middle of back, left shoulder, left arm, left armpit and now back of my left leg I've attatched pics of all but the back one. they seem to not have fluid as I've tried to pop a couple and get nothing but a tiny spot of blood, they are a little sore especially the ones that rub on clothes like back of leg or move like in my armpit or if u squeeze them. I've tried rubbing them with alcohol, I've had some of them several days now and are not clearing up and seem to develop new ones daily. my only real allergy is penicillin of which I've had none and I'm not currently or recently on any meds. I was tested in spring for all std's and was clear of all but herpes and I can't remember which type it is except that it's very common. I'm getting both annoyed with and a little worried about these things and I really hope u can help me as I cannot afford a doctor really unless it's life and death

Brief Answer:
Possible Staph skin infection, swab culture needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your pictures, and from what you are describing, and from what I have noted, it might be a Staph skin infection. I have noticed that some of them are white-pinpoint headed.

If I was your caring doctor would advise to run swab culture of the bumps to get the final causative agent and the right antibiotic to use.

I would also advise to run fecal examination for ova/parasites.

Depending on the tests results, specific treatment will be prescribed.

Meanwhile, I advise to:
- follow good hygienic measures
- try not to rub or to scratch, as this type of infection have the tendency to spread all over the body (to other body's part).

After the sample will be taken from the lab, you can apply betaine locally and oxygenated water only until you get lab results.

Wish fast recovery! If anything unclear, do not hesitate to contact me again!

are these things I need to worry about if untreated? or will it heal? I do have diarrhea a lot, almost daily but not every time but definayelt enough to where it's pretty much normal to me and I just attribute it to stress, food or my endless heartburn and stomach pain I do regularly take ranitidine for and didn't think about earlier when I said I do not take meds I wasn't sure if this info might help but thought I'd mention it upon reading the possibility of parasites. do I need to worry about my wife or son getting this from contact? and thank you very much for your time it is greatly appreciated, doctors are sooo expensive I simply cannot afford to go unless I absolutely must and yes I have health insurance but if the insanely High deductable isn't paid it does me no good, I still have to pay the XXXXXXX thank u again

Brief Answer:
Potentially at risk to have this infection...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Staph infection is common among young people of your age. If you let it untreated, it will be worse, and more difficult to clear off your body from this bacteria.

Having diarrhea when being stressed, or eating something that would alter stomach pH is normal. Apart taking ranitidine, I advise to take PPIs and to follow a good diet and lifestyle regimen that will ease your heartburn.

Yes, your family members are potentially at risk to have this infection, especially when you share utensils after touching with open skin bumps.

I understand that health service is expensive. But, when, it comes to your own health and that of your family members, MONEY IS NOT A CONCERN.

You need to see a doctor (dermatologist) as soon as possible and to run swab culture to determine the right antibiotic to use. Often, this type of infections are resistant to many antibiotics. Culturing and sensitivity testing will help determine the most susceptible drug for your infection, especially for your case as you are allergic to penicillin (should refer this to your doctor).

Hope it helped!
