What Causes Widening Of Incision Done During A Craniotomy?

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Mar 2015
Question: Procedure performed: craniotomy to repair aneurysm rupture (subarachnoid space) with a clipping in 2012. Question: Line of original incision that was stapled seems to spread for example around the orbital area also the "groove" of the incision appears to continue to move deeper. Is this normal? It is visually noticeable to others without my addressing their attention to it? If this is normal, is there a point in time I should actually worry and bring this to the attention of the neurologist? Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

Brief Answer:
It should not spread; visit your doctor please

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Its unlikely for scar incision to spread forwards as well as deep after such a long time. If properly gripped then usually it does not spread further. Care should be taken while combing hairs. So i would suggest you to once consult your treating doctor to get it checked.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
