Question: dear Sir,

my 5 years old son is having white skin spots at cheeks and near eyebrow started from one and now it is 5 in number within 4 months. First we consulted with dermatologist he recommended aveeno lotion twice a day and flutivate ointment at night then after 15 days he reviewd my child with wood lamp and daignosed vitiligo early & changed the medicine and recommended vitiskin gel twice a day and dosetil ceam for next 15 days . In the mean while we took second opinion doctor assured it is not vitiligo just a dryness of skin and recommened placentrex gel and pacrome cream. Please advice me I should go forward with which doctor i would like to mention that spots are not pure white it is of off white colour.
Thanks

P XXXXXXX rather than vitiligo

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Images.

I can see ill defined hypopigmented patches which are more likely to be Pityriasis XXXXXXX rather than vitiligo.

Brief Answer:
Pityriasis XXXXXXX is curable

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Pityriasis XXXXXXX is an illdefined hypopigmented patch most commonly recognised on the face and is more common in those who have an underlying dry skin.
It is curable. You may use pacroma cream along with placentex gel as advised by your treating doctor.
In fact treatment measures for both vitiligo and Pityriasis XXXXXXX are almost the same Pacroma, Vitiskin. Placentex and Dosetil, Flutivate ointment are commonly used for treating both vitiligo as well as Pityriasis XXXXXXX
