Brief Answer:
Physiotherapy and speech therapy would help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted the medical details of your brother-in-law and his current problems.

The weakness of his hand and speech problem are related to brain stroke. In most right-handed people, the speech area is located on the left side of brain. So, I presume the left side of brain got damaged during the brain stroke.

At this stage, the main treatment is physiotherapy and speech therapy, which would help in the improvement of right hand and speech, respectively. There is no role of medicines in the recovery. Medicines are given to prevent recurrence of brain stroke in the future.

I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
