What Causes Ventricular Bigeminy?
Question: I have been diagnosed with bigeminy. Can you tell me something about it

Ventricular bigeminy is a phenomenon that is comprised by every normal sinusal electrical strike being followed by an ectopic ventricular beat. It may come as a result of some diagnoses by, most often, by enlarged heart (dilated cardiomyopathy). Why is this important? It is important because, although not often, it can exacerbate malignant, serious, life-threatening, ventricular arrhythmias. Therefore, they should be treated and surpressed. I recommend you to consult with your cardiologist. I would recommend you amiodarone (Cordarone) as treating and surpressing drug for this arrythmia, but it has a pattern of loading and maintaining dosage, for which I would recommend you to speak with your cardiologist. Depending on various doctors, personal experience should be respected.

I think the side effects of amiodarone are probably more dangerous than the bigeminy.

Amiodarone, indeed, has side effects, but in preventing sudden death from a potential life-threatening, my opinion is that Amiodarone is benificial. An alternative to amiodarone is propafenone, if the use of amiodarone is worrisome to you, regarding side effects.
