What Causes Vaginal Spotting?

default
Posted on Wed, 30 Jul 2014
Question: hey doc. my period's been regular all this while. this month I was late a few days. I had my normal "before period" symptoms, like cramping, tender breasts. I suspected I might have been pregnant because I even started spotting 2 days ago, but this morning when I used a home test, it tested negative and a heavy flow of period came. I usually never spot and im paranoid that it could be a miscarriage because im also having pains on my left shoulder blade (which is apparently a sign from what I read online??). very paranoid now. please advise.
thanks

Brief Answer:
not a miscarriage

Detailed Answer:
Dear member,
Thanks for writing.
You are not pregnant as the urine test was negative.
Spotting can occur otherwise even in women who are not pregnant.
The delayed cycle occasionally causes heavy bleeding. The shoulder blade pain you read online may have been mentioned under ectopic pregnancy where the pregnancy bleeds intrauterine. If you were pregnant then definitely the urine test would be positive.
There is no need to worry about.
If you are still bleeding heavily then please take tab meftal spas thrice a day.
Please write back if you have any queries.
Thanks
