What Causes Urinary Incontinence, Frequent Urination And Chills?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Nov 2014
Question: My father, aged 69 has urge incontinence, frequent urination, nocturia, fever, chills ymptoms from two days. we visited a urologist yesterday and was advised to take the medication and get an ultrasound done but it can be done a full bladder which is difficult as of now. He has taken two antibiotic doses, post which the frequency has reduced, and the fever came down too however the urine routine report shows occult blood 2+, WBC - 40-60, RBC -10-20 and leukocyte esterase 3+. Please suggest what it could be and if this needs to be addressed urgently (being a sunday emergency is the only option) or we can wait for a day or so.

Brief Answer:
urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Based on the information given by you it is Clear that he has urinary tract infection. But he also needs a urine culture and sensitivity, test to identify the specific antibiotic he is sensitive to. Complete course of this antibiotic should be used Based on test result.
However keeping his age in mind prostate cancer(which is a rare possibiliyt and kidney stones should also be rouled out).
If he is stable he can visit hospital tomorrow to get all the investigations like ultrasound etc done.
Thanks
