What Causes Upper Abdominal Pain And Discomfort In Belly Button During Pregnancy?
Question: I am 20 weeks pregnant and went to a clinic nearby because I was having gas like pain (upper abdomen). The OB performed an ultrasound and noticed that I am having focal point contraction. She also noticed that I had 2 myomas (which I already know). I am not having serious pain, just upper abdomen and mild discomfort belly button area. My OB prescribed me with Progesterone inserts to use when required. Just wondering how serious is this and should I go see a doctor immediately? Like I said, the discomfort is upper abdomen area.

The myoma enlarges during pregnancy due to increased blood supply.
This might cause discomfort. Also occasionally it can cause mild contractions which in some cases may progress to preterm labour. In such case the discomfort will be more and there will be contractions.
The treatment is continuous use of progesterone inserts and if necessary medication to stop preterm labour contractions.
As your discomfort is mild and an ultrasound has been performed there is no need to worry.
Rest on your left side, and continue progesterone inserts as advised.
If still persistent then consider further treatment Like tocolytics for preterm Labour.
