default
Posted on Thu, 28 May 2015
Question: I had a fall two weeks ago and injured my right hand. Since then I have developed swelling, tingling, numbness, and pain in the right hand (along the ulnar nerve) as well as pain, numbness, tingling, and significant edema in the right foot, ankle, and lower leg ( not symptoms in left leg.). What do you think is happening?

Brief Answer:
suggest significant inflammation.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, welcome to HCM and thanks for choosing us.

I share your concerns as you have hurt yourself due to a fall. In my opinion you have significant inflammation in your right hand and leg. This inflammation compresses or irritates nerve endings, which is responsible for your symptoms like tingling, numbness, pain. Same mechanism is responsible for your symptoms in leg.

You need to visit an orthopedic specialist for clinical examination and investigations. You may require x rays, ct scan to know the exact cause behind these symptoms. Based on that treatment can be planned. You will require rest, pain killers, anti inflammatory, physiotherapy for smooth recovery.

I hope my reply will help you. Please write to us for more information and follow up queries. I wish you good health and rapid recovery. Kindly rate this reply. Thanks
