What Causes Swollen Labia After Surgery In The Groin Area?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 Jun 2015
Question: My left labia is swollen and thickened and painful. I had surgery last Wednesday about a 3 inch incision in my lower left groin to remove scar tissue and the inguinal nerve was involved. I have done quite well since the surgery and the pre surgery pain has been relieved. I was on my feet more today than the past few days, don't know if this is just a fluke or they are related.

Brief Answer:
Pain suggests infection. Consult your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
It is normal to have swollen labia after surgery in the groin. It is just the body fluid of surgery which gets collected in labia due to gravity. But this usually does not cause pain. Pain suggests that there could be infection ( hair follicle infection). So please consult your doctor .
I hope this helps. If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer.
