What Causes Swollen Eye And Eyelid Post Head Injury?

Question: 61 year old male fell Friday hit head on door received large laceration taken to doctors express received internal stitches and 14 staples to close wound , today right eye and eye lid are swollen and bruised. Is this normal ? Is it the fluid from the wound draining down or should he be seen again ? No pain and feels fine. Also get us is not up to date .. They did ask and said they would give him one. It did not. Can he wait till Monday for TDAP ?

Hi
The swelling around the eye is edema and it will get subsided gradually.
It is normal for any trauma to the head and face.
Hope you are taking Antibiotic as your laceration was sutured.
I also add Anti inflammatory tablet to my patients with similar complaints.
Nothing to worry.
No need to see him for this problem.
You should meet the doctor when there is Vomiting, loss of consciousness or bleeding from ear,nose or throat.
