default
Posted on Sat, 26 Nov 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,
I'm experiencing sudden dizziness, fainting like feeling occasionally. These episodes are not too frequent but yes they occur once in two/three months. During this period, I also feel weak/trouble using arms and difficulty in breathing as well.
I don't have any BP issues and my diet is also good. But yes, i have some acid reflex issues which keeps on recurring.
In addition, I also am suffering from c6-c7 cervical disc bulge and consequently, have mild cervical spondylosis. For its cure, I'm going through Physiotherapy and it helped me a lot.
Can you please suggest the potential causes/cure for my dizziness episodes.

Hello Doctor,

Please find my comments inline:

Does you vision get blurry during the episodes ?
--Not really but at during the time, it is very difficult to concentrate on a single thing. For example, it is difficult for me to move any hands or type a letter on my laptop.

Were the episodes severe during the course of medications you mentioned ?
--No. The medication course has ended in july, 2016. And there isn't any medication/medicine i'm taking now.

Do you get more dizzy when you have acid reflux episodes ?
--Not really. These episodes occur even if i have perfectly fine digestion with no reflux. The intensity of the episodes don't have any settled pattern. They are mild to medium kind of not Severe.

Do you feel the surroundings moving with respect to you during the episode ?
--It feels like I'm fainting and my eyes are spinning.

Do let me know in case you need more info. Looking forward to hear from you.

Thanks

Just to add on:

When-ever I get these episodes, I feel discomfort within my collar and neck area and consequently breathing problem. This happen when episode intensity is above mild or medium.

Brief Answer:
Carotid artery doppler

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the information.

Based on the description you provided, I suspect there to be disturbance in the blood flow to the brain. This can happen when there is any sort of obstruction to the same in the neck. Some of the obstructions can cause transient decrease in the blood to the brain and can be episodic.

The best way to rule out the same is by a Carotid artery Doppler scan. Do consul a neurologist for the same. He can help you out in getting it done.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.
