Question: I have been diagnosed with a muscle strain. however I've been off work for a month now and last night I somehow re injured myself . the pain was sharp stabbing when I coughed sneezed or bent over. the location is the right upper groin area by the hip. today it's sore but I can move. I feel no bulges and haven't . my inner thigh has been sore also. I have felt perfectly fine till last night. I however did a lot of walking and going up and down stairs and bending over. I drove flatbed semi and I have to return to work monday. do you think it is smart to return or should I take more time. and how long will it take for this to heal. I am afraid .

Brief Answer:
Give adequate rest .

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

From the description given its likely that you have sustained muscle sprain again.

The pain is due to associated muscle spasm . So it is important to relieve it. I would suggest you the following which will definitely help

Give adequate rest to the involved muscle group and avoid any movement that causes pain. It will take 5-7 days to heal.

Hot water Fomentation: Either by towel soaked in hot water or by hot water bag. Intermittent application of heat for 15 to 20 minutes each session 4 to 5 times a day will be helpful

Local application of muscle relaxant gel

Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
