What Causes Soreness On Both Sides Of Jaw Area?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: I'm female, 26 years old next week. 8 days ago I suddenly noticed my jaw was sore on both sides when washing my face. I then got a headcold/sinus infection.green runny nose, swollen eye, pain behind nose. My jaws were very sore for 3 days especially when I moved my neck. That is now gone but I have 3 painful lumps still. On my left side I have a large lump on my jaw that I can move back and forth over the bone. I have a small lump in front of my ear on the left side that is sore if I press it. There's also a sore spot on my right jawline if I press. What do you think about these lumps

Brief Answer:
These are swollen lymph nodes...Signs that you had an infection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about thee lumps and all the inconveniences. These lumps represent woolen glands and this is inline with the inflammation and infection that you had. They would regress progressively as you recover from the infection. There is no need for further medical attention at this time.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Ok thank you, I was worried about malignancy because there are a few lumps and because they are tender. I will wait and see if they improve.

Brief Answer:
Keep me posted!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Cancer related lumps would not present with pain or tenderness. That's typical of acute infection related.

Keep me posted. I wish you well.
