What Causes Soreness In The Rib Area After Rib Fracture?

default
Posted on Sat, 10 May 2014
Question: I feel and broke 2 ribs about 4 months ago. I do not have any pain nor are they sore to the touch. However on the days after I go to the gym and lift weights, I have some soreness in the rib area. I was thinking I should be completely healed by now so this is concerning me. Should I have a follow up x-ray to make sure everything is okay?

Brief Answer: It will also go in some time Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for your query. I have read your case and I want to assure you that this soreness is quite normal after rib fracture. It will also go soon. May be one more month. You should continue your exercise. This soreness is because bone is still not completely healed. Final stage of healing is remodeling and occurs at five to six month. There is no need to x ray though. If pain is very severe then take brufen tablet. I hope this answers your queries. Let me know if you want to ask any other questions. Thanks and take care.
