What Causes Skin Lesions On Penis With Patchy Red Areas On Shaft?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jun 2014
Question: I have what I believe to be friction burns and bumps on my penis. I dont think it is an STD, as I have only had 3 partners the last 6 years. They have been there for months and dont ever go away, which is why I dont think it is herpes. They dont ooze, hurt, or bleed any fluid. They are patchy, red areas on the shaft of my penis and a few bumps near the underside of the head. They have been present for nearly a year and never change location. Any idea what this could be and what sorts of strong ointments I could use to fix it? I have tried various lotions. I have masturbated frequently since I was young, and I should probably slow the pace.

Brief Answer:
Lichen planus genitals, need regular treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same .
I have seen the attached picture .
The skin lesions in your case do not appear to be related to any sexually transmitted disease .
Owing to the pinkish and violaceous hue of the lesions, I am of the view that the lesions are those of lichen planus or an eczematous skin condition . Lichen planus is basically an immune mediated skin condition which is not infective or harmful.
Confirmation of the diagnosis can only be done on a closer and direct examination or by a skin biopsy .
I would advise you to apply cortisone cream over the affected areas twice a day for seven to ten days.
An improvement in the lesions will help in confirmation of the diagnosis .
I am sure they will get better with treatment . Do not apply any other cream or oil over it .

I would like to hear from you in follow up.

Hope it helps
