default
Posted on Mon, 7 Apr 2014
Question: Hi, my name is XXXX, April 2013, I fell out of bed landing on my left hip. there was an indoor outdoor rug with no padding just on a concrete slab. The pain is sharp, burning down to my left knee. Sleeping on left side wakes me from the burning that I have. I was 55yrs old at that time. I'm wondering if an Xray, MRI. or CT Scan would benefit me. I fell very hard, have not seen my Physician as of yet.

Brief Answer: Hi and welcome to HCM Detailed Answer: Thanks for the query. I doubt that that was bone fracture from such minor injury and you would have some other symptoms but it is possible that there was hip contusion which could cause faster hip arhrosis and this would explain your pain. Xray would reveal just severe arhrosis so it would be more smarter to do MRI of both hips and lumbar spine to evaluate is there any nerve compression in spine area. Also, you need good physical therapy and certain drigs if arhrosis is proved. In some cases you can have hip replacement, but usually such pain can be regulated by standard painkilers. Wish you good health. Feel free to ask. Regards
