Posted on Sat, 10 Jun 2017
Question: I had taken plan b soon after having unprotected sex. about 4-5 days later I started spotting (I had sex on the last day of my period). Now I've been been experiencing extreme vaginal burning and have some sores. Ive also had body aches. I'm wondering if this is a uti or some std that I got from my partner that I didnt know about?

Brief Answer:
A possibility of yeast infection is there.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
Thanks for posting your query.
I may need a few more details before I answer your question.

1. Have you had unprotected sexual contact previous to this incidence?
2. Do you have the same partner or multiple partners?
3. Have you any idea about the sexual activities of your sex partner?
4. Have you ever taken previously any oral contraceptives?
5 What is the age of your sexual partner? Is there any chance of Diabetes Mellitus for him?
These details will be of more useful to throw lights for your present problem.

Oral contraceptives are known to precipitate a yeast vulvovaginitis. This could cause itching and sores due to scratching that could cause burning sensation of your genitals.

Rest of the discussion will be followed after seeing your response. Awaiting your response.

Hi, thank you for your response.

1. No I have not had unprotected sex previously

partners in the past.
4. I have not taken any contraceptive in the past
5. He is 24 and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have diabetes

If you think it is a yeast infection what measures should I take to get it resolved?

Brief Answer:
Yeast infection or a HSV infection are the possibilities

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Thank you for the information.
Sores over genitals those can cause burning sensation can be due to variety of causes.
Examination of the sore and investigations on the vaginal secretions in the laboratory can reveal the exact diagnosis.
In your case yeast infection is the likely possibility. If we assume that your partner had multiple partners, HSV 2 infection is an other possibility.
Consult a specialist doctor (gynecologist or a dermato-venereologist), get examined and get well soon.
