Question: I have excrusiating pain in my upper abdomen. they keep checking heart not the problem. I swell up like i was 4 months pregnant. I had a surgery to help reflux and that is the area. what could cause this

Welcome to health care magic,

First of all,it would be useful for me if you can tell me about the surgery which you had undergone for reflux? Is it fundoplication?

There may be variety of causes of upper abdominal pain and stomach bloating like air swallowing (known as erophagia),acute gastritis, constipation,celiac disease or sprue,bowel obstruction or it could be the complication of your surgery for reflux.

Meanwhile you can take medications like proton pump inhibitors (pantoprazole or rabeprazole) with avoid excess carbohydrates and fatty foods, avoid oily and spicy foods.

If your problem persists then you should go to gastroenterologist to treat underlying cause.
