Posted on Thu, 24 Aug 2017
Question: Hi, I was sitting watching a film on my laptop when I got a sudden, severe pain that felt like it was deep in the front of my neck towards the bottom. It seemed to disappear very quickly but was so severe it has raised my anxiety greatly. If it was serious, would the pain disappear?

Brief Answer:
It can be due to muscular sprain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post it seems that your symptoms might be due to muscular pain as a result of wrong posture for some quite long time.
If the symptoms recur, I would suggest that you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated by your doctor.
Correct posture while sitting and lying down along with hot fomentation will be beneficial.
If the pain persists, you can take a pain killer like Diclofenac 50 mg after discussing with your doctor.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.
