What Causes Severe Nausea While On Cilicaine And Metamucil?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jun 2016
Question: Hi
I have been prescribed cilicaine vk (500mg) for a virus I caught during the week. I have been taking them for 1 and a half days but am feeling nauseous. I also took a dose of Metamucil as I didn't have a movement for a day. I have a feeling this may have something to with the nausea. I had no need to take the Metamucil but I am a big time worrier and always over react. Is this normal?

Brief Answer:
Feeling nauseous can be due to the infection or the antibiotic.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
You would have been given the antibiotic because your doctor would have suspected a bacterial infection. The feeling of nausea can be either from the illness or the antibiotic. It usuallyl settles in a few days.
If you take Metamucil within two hours of the antibiotic, it may decrease the absorption of the antibiotic. There's no other adverse effect.
