Question: I am 64 years old with height 5'7" and weight 69 kg. I do not have any disease e.g. Sugar, High B. P. etc. except IBS. I feel general weakness whole the day very often. I am planning to take Amway Nutrilite tablet once a day. Is it advisable? Is there any other better tablet please advise.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Your body mass index is within the normal range and at this age it is excellent.
2. Now regarding Amway nutrilite, it is good and equal to any product in the market, which is rich in vitamin and minerals. As it is easily accessible and regularly available, you can take it.
3. Now regarding weakness, it is not necessarily always due to deficiencies of vitamin or minerals. Inadequate sleep, low protein diet, dehydration, or even inadequate regular physical activity are all responsible for weakness. Improving hydration, at least 5-6 liters of water per day along with regular sleep, protein rich diet and moderate amount of physical activity is also essential. Along with it, nutrilite can be taken.
4. If thyroid is not checked, get a thyroid hormone test. If done and normal, then try to improve as suggested earlier.

Also, do remember as age progresses, due to reduction in skeletal muscle can lead to easy weakness. So, slow improvement will occur as nutrition improvement will take time.

Hope it helps.
