What Causes Several Painful Lumps Below Waist Line?

Question: several weeks ago i noticed some small lumps under the skin at my waist and felt like pins jabing me at times. today i see fair amount of peeling skin at waist line. could it be just dry skin since i don;t always put lotion on after a shower?

If you have a history of chicken pox in the past at any point, then the discomfort and lumps may be due to shingles.
After the lesion heals it can cause dry skin in the area where the rash was present.
This may sometimes recur at intervals in some.

The other option would be irritant dermatitis (inflammation of the skin). The area of the waist line is sometimes irritated by contact with the waist line of clothes, belts etc.
In this case, the use of a mild topical over the counter steroid would help eg hydrocortisone.
